Charles Makanui Jr.
Charles “Chuck” K. Makanui Jr., 65, of Kailua-Kona, died June 2, 2020 in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he worked in the hospitality industry and loved performing, was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kona 2nd Ward.
Private services will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo and burial at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles K. Makanui, Sr. He is survived by daughters, Kalena (Elias) and Melelani Makanui; mother, Myra Aina-Paul; siblings Charmaigne (Vernon) Costley, Cheryle (Brian) O’Brien, Craig (Missy) Makanui, Cyd (Garry) Hoffeld, Charlton (Michele) Makanui, and Liwai (Mia) Makanui; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Manuel Rapozo III
Manuel “Boy” Carduso Rapozo, III, 71, of Kalopa, died June 17, 2020 at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired cattle rancher, self-employed mechanic and welder, member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa, and a veteran of the U.S. Army and Hawaii Army National Guard.
Paying of respects will begin at 8:30 a.m., June 27, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa, funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kalopa Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire. Limited seating at the church, social distancing and wearing of face mask observed.
Survived by daughters, Lisa (Peter) Abarcar of Waimea, Sharla Rapozo of Kona, Dayna Rapozo of Kalopa; brother, Tyrone (Jolette) Rapozo of Kalopa; sister, Bernadette Rapozo of Kalopa; four grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Arthur Ikeda
Arthur Hidemi Ikeda, 85, of Honolulu, died June 1, 2020. Born Oct. 2, 1934, in Holualoa, he was a licensed real estate broker and served on the Board of Directors of the Steadfast Housing Development Corporation.
Arthur is survived by sons, Guy (Lynette) Ikeda of Walnut Creek, CA, Barry (Margie) Ikeda of Riverton, UT, and Bo (Jessica) Ikeda of Honolulu; siblings Amy Saito of Hilo, Albert (Jane) Ikeda of Kealakekua, and Dale (Sue Yung) Ikeda of San Francisco, CA; two grandchildren.
In the interest of the health and safety of family and friends during this pandemic, the family will plan a celebration of life event in June of 2021. Announcements will be made in May 2021.
